The Vampire Diaries; The Return; Shadow Souls.

Damon along with the three girls, Elena, Bonnie, and Meredith, set out on a journey to free Stefan but, there is only one way humans can enter the dark dimension and that is as slaves!! In their quest to find the 2 parts of the key to Stefan's cell and trying to keep him and all of them alive in this terrible place, Elena and her group face new challenges every minute; they meet new friends and new enemies. There's one more problem, Elena and Damon are getting closer to each other. Also, because of the Kitsune's effect on his mind, he has become a bit forgetful .
In the meantime, Matt is back in Fell's Church and is working with Mrs Flowers, Dr. Alpert, and Obaasan to find the way to stop teenagers from going insane because of Kitsunes.
In the end, there is surprise related to Damon.
And yes, there are many secrets that are yet to be revealed...

My Thoughts:
Brilliant continuation from the previous book. The relationship between Damon and Elena goes deeper and I'm quite happy about that because I'm a Damon fan :) The ending is brilliant and hilarious, cannot wait to read the next one! :)

The Vampire Diaries; The Return; Nightfall.

The first book in a new trilogy from L. J. Smith! Elena Gilbert is alive—again. When Elena sacrificed herself to save the two vampire brothers who love her—the handsome, brooding Stefan and the sleek and dangerous Damon—she was consigned to a fate beyond death. Until a powerful supernatural force pulled her back. Now Elena is not just human. She has powers and gifts that were bestowed on her in the afterlife. What's more, her blood pulses with an overwhelming and unique force that makes her irresistible to any vampire. Stefan wants to find a way to keep Elena safe so that they can make a life together. Damon, however, is driven by an insatiable desire for power, and wants Elena to rule as his princess. When Stefan is lured away from Fell's Church, Damon seizes his chance to convince her that he is the brother she is meant to be with. . . . But a darkness is infiltrating the town, and Damon, always the hunter, is now the hunted; he becomes the prey of a malevolent creature that can possess him at will, and who desires not just Elena's blood but her death.

My Thoughts:
I love the new triolygy in this series! It's full of twists, and as it's no secret that Damon is my favorite character, I'm thrilled that theres a little more focus on him in this series. The story gets better and the relationship between Damon and Elana grows and grows. Read this if you have read the original first two books!

The Vampire Diaries; The Fury & The Reunion

Elena: transformed, the golden girl has become what she once feared and desired. Stefan: tormented by losing Elena, he's determined to end his feud with Damon once and for all—whatever the cost. But slowly he begins to realize that his brother is not his only enemy. Damon: at last, he possesses Elena. But will his thirst for revenge against Stefan poison his triumph? Or can they come together to face one final battle? Collected here in one edition are the third and fourth volumes of The Vampire Diaries, a riveting conclusion to the tale of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them.

My Thoughts:
I like this series better than Twilight and t is copyrighted 1991, before the Twilight craze. I think the plot is better, the characters richer, and the suspense more intense. My favorite interactions are between Damon and Stefan, the vampire brothers. My only complaint is that the new editions have the cover to match the CW television series. On these covers the protagonist is dark hair and dark eyed. In the book, Elena is blond and blue eyed. I found it a minor detail, but distracting. Still, this book lives up to what I expected it to be. Love it!

The Vampire Diaries; The Awakening & The Struggle

Elena: the golden girl, the leader, the one who can have any boy she wants. Stefan: brooding and mysterious, he seems to be the only one who can resist Elena, even as he struggles to protect her from the horrors that haunt his past. Damon: sexy, dangerous, and driven by an urge for revenge against Stefan, the brother who betrayed him. Determined to have Elena, he'd kill to possess her. Collected here in one volume for the first time, volumes one and two of The Vampire Diaries, the tale of two vampire brothers and the beautiful girl torn between them.

My Thoughts:
This is my favorite book series. By the second page I was sucked in and couldn't put it down. You can imagine what Stefan would be like straight away in your head and you can't help but to love him, same with Damon. There are a remarkable amount of similarities between this story and the Twilight saga, but keep in mind this series came out well before Twilight first did. The story was just so exciting and dramatic. Also I adored the love triangle between Elena, Stefan and Damon. Highly recommend this book :)

The Vampire Lestat

After the spectacular debut of Interview with the Vampire in 1976, Anne Rice put aside her vampires to explore other literary interests--Italian castrati in Cry to Heaven and the Free People of Color in The Feast of All Saints . But Lestat, the mischievous creator of Louis in Interview , finally emerged to tell his own story in the 1985 sequel, The Vampire Lestat . As with the first book in the series, the novel begins with a frame narrative. After over a half century underground, Lestat awakens in the 1980s to the cacophony of electronic sounds and images that characterizes the MTV generation. Particularly, he is captivated by a fledgling rock band named Satan's Night Out. Determined both to achieve international fame and end the centuries of self-imposed vampire silence, Lestat takes command of the band (now renamed "The Vampire Lestat") and pens his own autobiography. The remainder of the novel purports to be that autobiography: the vampire traces his mortal youth as the son of a marquis in pre-Revolutionary France, his initiation into vampirism at the hands of Magnus, and his quest for the ultimate origins of his undead species. While very different from the first novel in the Vampire Chronicles, The Vampire Lestat has proved to be the foundation for a broader range of narratives than is possible from Louis's brooding, passive perspective. The character of Lestat is one of Rice's most complex and popular literary alter egos, and his Faustian strivings have a mythopoeic resonance that links the novel to a grand tradition of spiritual and supernatural fiction.

My Thoughts..
This book is just as good as the previous one, Interview with the Vampire. It shows the way Lestat thinks, and is, something Interview with the Vampire does not. This book tells about Lestat's life before he meets Louis, and it shows a softer side of Lestat than most people know about. One of my favorites.

Interview With The Vampire

The time is now.
We are in a small room with the vampire, face to face, as he speaks - as he pours out the hypnotic, shocking, moving, and erotically charged confessions of his first two hundred years as one of the living dead.

My Thoughts..
No matter how ridiculous the idea may seem, the subject of vampires never ends to fascinate many. But very few authors manage to capture the essence, and not make a fool of themselves. Anne Rice is no fool. This book really is amazing. So much different from the film and so much better. I was captured straight away. I highly recommend this book.
